My thoughts on speed and red light cameras are that I think they are just another way of getting the public. I know it is a public safety issue and could possible help save lives. Speed and red light cameras could present too much of a temptation for states, counties and cities to use them as a way to raise funds, not as a tool to make the roads safer. They also prevent you from using your constitutional right to confront your accuser in a court of law. You are not being accused by a human police officer. You are being accused by a camera in which you can not confront a camera in court. I the past, I have seen the general public doing things that are of a major traffic problem. When I tell it to a police officer including a description and tag number of the vehicle, Ive been told that nothing can be done since an officer didnt see it happen. If that is the case, how can a person which is not a police officer view a computer screen attached to a camera monitor and print a ticket that is issued to an individual car owner which may or may not be the person driving the vehicle at that time.
