Effects of the Economy and Stimulus on Individuals

The below situations effect the amount that an individual is possibly able to contribute to the Fire Department, Police Department and organization affiliated with them.

My feeling on the stimulus package and high jobless rate is I know the government has helped the Banking Industry and Automobile manufacturers.  Now Im hearing about them helping small businesses.  The only help for individuals is that they reduced the Federal Withholding tax and certain individuals received money from certain government agencies.  With the help to Bank, automobile manufacturers and small businesses are good except with high jobless rate, a lot of individuals dont have any money to spend.

Utility and other companies, even though they are providing a service, they seem to demand their money even before a person pays to keep a roof over their head and food on their table.  If a person does not pay these companies, service will be cut and extra fees are added to get service restored.  This writer has heard companies are supposed to work with individuals if discussed a head of time, but they dont work with them.  These companies also dont take into consideration of a person or family that doesnt eat right, if at all, can start having medical problems.

This writer also feels that some credit card companies are also creating more problems but raising interest rates up as high as some times 30% APR.  They also have extra fees for at lot of different things, e.g. Late fees, over limit fees, returned check fees just to name a few.

If a person tries to get assistance, some places will only help with $100.00 once a year for helping with bills.  Some places that help with food will only help once every thirty days.  Other places it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get an appointment for assistance.

I have recenetly read on an article on AOL that banks and credit card companies are tracking your purchases and using them as a way to artificially raise or lower your credit rating. I have heard that if you shop at dollar stores or other bargain retailers, you get penalized. If you choose to purchase clothes at Wal-Mart or Target or similar retailers instead of buying them at the brand name mall stores they penalize you can consider you a credit risk. Also, if you buy the store brand of various items in the grocery stores intead of the brand name item, you get penalized and get considered a credit risk. This is just another way credit card companies are getting away with abusing their customers and keeping them in debt and making it harder for people to recover from financial problem in their lives.
