EMS Services

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a valuable addition to the medical community. When a medical emergency arises, the nearest EMS team is notified and dispatched to the emergency scene.

EMS teams usually consist of two or more people. They are trained in medical and rescue situations and have the proper tools and equipment to save lives. These teams are prepared for emergency situations by following their response plans, medical treatment protocol and showing compassion to those who need their help.

Most patients expect high quality care from their EMS team. When sick or injured, patients put their lives in the hands of the Emergency Medical Team. This team is responsible for transporting the patient to a hospital after the medical emergency has been stabilized. They are the first responders and often come upon situations that have taken a tragic turn. Keeping calm and using their many hours of medical training is extremely important.

Many EMS personnel are volunteers. These volunteers are trained in advanced first aid, advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy and the use of automatic external defibrillation.

Last but not least, it is very important that the Emergency Medical Services team treat all patients with courtesy and respect. These health care professionals should provide their patients with the best possible care by assessing their medical needs and answering any questions as tactfully and honest as possible. EMS teams in many cities provide medical training for the general public. First Aid and CPR classes are offered to those who wish to learn these life saving techniques.
