Resources For Victims Of Violence

There are many different types of victims of violence. There is child abuse, domestic violence, school abuse, sexual abuse or rape, and unborn victims of abuse. No matter the type, there is assistance for all of them state and nationwide.

The Domestic Violence Hot-line is available to women and children of domestic violence. If you want to report school violence to someone other than the school or district personnel there is the School Violence Tip Line. There are numerous websites for victims of abuse of all kinds to help them with where to go for help and much more. The Social Security Administration has a program where domestic violence victims can obtain new social security numbers so they may continue to work and earn benefits for later.

There are 24hr hot-lines that offer education and prevention of domestic violence. Many states provide safe homes and shelter for women and children as well as free counseling, legal advice and assistance with family court orders of protection. Some provide provisions for transportation to local hospitals and health care facilities when necessary. There is counseling for victims of sexual abuse and other violent crimes. There are various support groups for all types of victims of crime. I n California, October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. This organization was founded in 1965 and since then has paid out more than $l.8 billion to victims of crime. In the last fiscal year they paid out about 81 million to victims of violent crimes. There is hope for all victims of violent crimes locally, statewide and nationwide.
